Declaration     

   We, the delegates and observers from every corner of the world, gathered at the Eighth General Conference of the World Buddhist Sangha Council in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from December 6-11, 2005 on the theme of “Promoting World Peace Through A Caring Community”, make the following unanimous declaration with deep sincerity after three- day deliberations.

   World peace is the greatest hope of whole mankind. Only if there is world peace, mankind may have happiness. Wars always bring sufferings and disasters to mankind. Therefore, every religion and organization should work for world peace.

   The responsibility of the Sangha is to promote world peace, to relieve mankind from suffering, and to bring happiness to living beings based on Buddha’s teaching of compassion. The combined efforts and the wisdom of the participants of this conference will be focused to achieve our noble goals.
